The panel discussion, The Power of Everyday Movement: Improving Children's Health and Wellbeing Through Daily Physical Activity, brought together Gordon Banks, CEO of The Daily Mile Foundation; Marian Kelly, Headteacher of St Conval's Primary School; Mike Diaper, Director of Impact and Funding at the London Marathon Foundation; and James Williams, CEO of Welsh Athletics.

Together, the panel explored how simple, everyday opportunities to move can make a lasting difference to children's health, wellbeing and learning, and why collaboration across education, health and sport is essential to creating healthier futures for children.

The discussion formed part of a wider Scotland House programme, bringing together leaders from public health, government, education and sport to share ideas and approaches that support healthier, more active communities.

Throughout the session, speakers reflected on the importance of making movement an everyday part of children's lives, highlighting that lasting change is often achieved through simple, sustainable approaches that fit naturally within the school day.

Born in a Scottish primary school over a decade ago, The Daily Mile has grown into a global movement, helping millions of children build healthy habits through daily movement. The discussion reflected how the initiative continues to bring together partners across education, health and sport around a shared ambition to create healthier futures for children.

As conversations around children's health continue to evolve, one message was clear: helping children move more every day requires collaboration across sectors. By working together, we can create more opportunities for children to build healthy habits that benefit their health, wellbeing and future.
